A Kingdom Hearts TV Show May Be in the Works
A report recently surfaced from Emre Kaya which claimed that Kingdom Hearts was destined for a TV show on Disney+ and more rumors regarding the potential show have been circulating ever since. Even more recently, social media influencer Jeremy Conrad took to Twitter to claim that the TV show is happening and that it will be CG animated by a currently unnamed studio. Jim Cummings, Bill Farmer, Tony Anselmo will apparently return to perform voice overs for their Disney characters. Kingdom Hearts 3 is the latest installment in the series and it’s available for PS4 and Xbox One, where it’s also available through the Game Pass subscription service.
The original Tweet from Jeremy Conrad said simply that the Kingdom Hearts TV show is true, stated alongside a Kingdom Hearts gif that featured the main trio of the games: Sora, Goofy and Donald Duck. Editor-In-Chief of Disney Insider, Skyler Shuler then took to his Twitter account to say, “Been tagged in Jeremys post (which is true), so here’s what I know: Kingdom Hearts will be a Disney+ series, not a movie. It’s animated (CG) and Disney VO (voice over) actors are expected to reprise their roles (Jim Cummings, Bill Farmer, Tony Anselmo). With so many people talking about a potential Kingdom Hearts show, we hope that the Disney+ rumors are true.
With so many actors returning to voice their characters for the potential Kingdom Hearts Disney+ TV series, we hope to see other characters from the games voiced by the familiar voice actors as well. Although this is a TV series and not a movie, the Kingdom Hearts series could wind up being a far longer and more fulfilling experience if the studio is allowed free rein. Considering how credible Skyler Shuler in particular is, with his experience at Disney Insider, the potential for a Disney+ Kingdom Hearts series seems more likely.
