Sadly, No Western Version… Yet
No pun intended, but Red Candle Games is really devoted to their game Devotion. This game has had a rollercoaster ride since its release over a year ago. It was review bombed by Chinese players, it was delisted from Steam, and then it was added to a Harvard library of preservation for East Asian cultural materials. Now it appears that Devotion is hitting another noteworthy phase with a physical release. It has not been seen on Steam since been delisted, but again, no pun intended, devoted fans will be able get their hands on it.
Unfortunately, fans in the West are not eligible to order this physical copy of Devotion. In fact, it does not appear that any overseas customers can order one. Hopefully, if this physical copy campaign does well, Red Candle Games might extend this to their international audience. Let’s take a look at what comes with it. It comes in a collector’s box that contains the game’s case, which looks like a VCR tape. That case is covered by a tape sleeve. The VCR case opens up and contains a USB stick, Flower and Love children’s book (pocket sized), Maxim’s tulip bookmark, and a set of stickers.
The USB stick is designed like a Taiwanese sign. There is an option to also get the Devotion soundtrack on disc as well. The campaign for this physical edition lasts from June 8th until June 15th. Hopefully after that, Red Candle Games can make an English version [fingers crossed]. Devotion is currently unavailable on PC!
