Ubisoft Might Make Assassin’s Creed 2 Free-to-Play Later This Week
A recently spotted webpage on a German bargains website points to Assassin’s Creed 2 becoming free on Uplay this Tuesday on April 14th. The webpage also revealed that the next two sequels, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and Revelations, would receive steep discounts on Ubisoft’s PC-only store.
Ubisoft’s Uplay Twitter account hasn’t announced these deals yet so this should be treated as a leak.
All three of these Assassin’s Creed games make up the so-called “Ezio Trilogy”, which follows the life story of Renaissance-Era Italian assassin Ezio Auditore. While the trilogy has often been praised for improving gameplay features in each subsequent entry, Ezio’s story has also resonated with fans since he starts off as a spoiled rich kid and, by the third game, he’s an older, wiser assassin.
If you’d like to learn more about the trilogy then you should read our review of 2016’s Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection.
“Unfortunately, The Ezio Collection also includes the gameplay flaws that came with those original versions,” the review’s author wrote. “The same frustrating, loose free-running from the older games is present in all its rage-inducing infamy. I found myself constantly jumping in the wrong direction, grasping for a ledge that I didn’t want to be on or tackling the wrong NPC. However, I did find it interesting to see how each game slightly improves on the mechanics from the previous game.”
