A Bloody Good Time
Last night at Final Kombat, the Mortal Kombat 11 Spawn gameplay trailer and Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge red band trailer were shown. Final Kombat is NetherRealm’s annual live event, despite not actually having a live audience due to the Coronavirus. This is where Mortal Kombat 11 players compete to be the best, which is wonderful, but we are here to see the new animated movie. If fighting games aren’t your thing, but still have a taste for extreme violence, then maybe this movie will be more your speed.
The trailer shows Scorpion’s Revenge is all about, well… Scorpion getting revenge. The trailer shows Hanzo during his time before becoming Scorpion. His family was murdered by Sub-Zero before he is also killed by him. He is then brought back to life by Quan Chi to fight on his behalf. We see Scorpion join fighters from the Earthrealm led by Raiden. These fighters include Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, and Sonya Blade. Other familiar characters that make brief appearances include Kano, Motaro, Onaga, Kitana, Shang Tsung, Goro, and Shao Kahn.
This being a red band trailer for a Mortal Kombat movie, there is plenty of blood, bone, and bad language. We should expect to the whole movie be like this. Unfortunately, it gives off this fan-service, flashy-but-low-quality vibe, like a lot of the animated Warner Bros. movies. Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge will be available on Blu-Ray and DVD on April 28th.
