DMC 5 Is the Most Recent and Best Selling Devil May Cry
Capcom has officially announced that DMC 5 is the best-selling Devil May Cry in the franchise. They recently revealed that the latest DMC game has now sold 3.1 million copies, narrowly edging out Devil May Cry 4 which has sold an even 3 million. DMC 5 has also become Capcom’s 19th best-selling release to date after selling 400,000 copies in the most recent fiscal quarter. Devil May Cry 5 is available on PS4, Xbox One and PC now.
With DMC 5 and 4 being the top two selling games in the series, the next best is DMC: Devil May Cry, which has sold 2.4 million units and the original title in the series is next with 2.16 million units. Finally, Devil May Cry 2 has sold roughly 1.7 million units. With the most recent installment in the franchise selling so well, it’s likely that we’ll see a new one soon and possible even next-gen ports of the best seller. With Monster Hunter World recently breaking Capcom sales records, the DMC 5 numbers might not look that massive in comparison, but the publisher will definitely note the success.
With Capcom selling around 400,000 units of DMC 5 in the most recent fiscal quarter, it’s likely that the game will continue to see success in furthering itself as the best selling game in the franchise. With this sales news, it’s apparent that many fans of the latest game are new to the franchise so Capcom will have to continue to innovate with the franchise or modernize the original title to show gamers the origins of Dante.
