Devil May Cry 5 PS4 Censorship Reversed in North America

A Small Victory For The Anti-Censorship Crowd

In an unexpected twist, the PS4 version of Devil May Cry 5 is getting censorship reversed. This is unusual only if you’ve been following along with Sony’s censor saga for the last few years. They tend to cover things that other platforms and publishers are less concerned about. So Devil May Cry 5 getting three frames of bare butt back is.. kind of big?

Okay so it’s not really big, but it offers up a little hope that Sony is not a wholly puritanical gaming platform. To be fair, this particular issue is only an issue if you’re both a) playing a small subset of games and b) overly concerned about saucy content in said games.

Most players looking for the unfiltered experience can easily find this on the PC. The Sony censorship issue serves only to alienate certain players from their platform. To that end, the restoration of a single scene in the North American version of Devil May Cry 5 is small but significant step away from their usual stance on the subject. Does this decision mean Sony will soon change their tune? Only time will tell. You can check out a video below for a look at this strange little butt-based saga.
