Slave to the Grind
In this week’s installment of CoD Game Types that Will Come and Go in a Flash, we are going to be talking about Grind, the Modern Warfare multiplayer mode that will be available for the next week or so. Because of Call of Duty’s revolving door of multiplayer game modes, it can be difficult to keep track of all the fun you can have. Luckily, Infinity Ward is tweeting out the changes in the multiplayer playlists. As the first change of 2020, Snowfight [seething at the name] has been removed, Shoot House 24/7 replaces Shoot the Ship, and Grind replaces Drop Zone.
Grind first appeared in Call of Duty: Ghosts. It is a mixture of Kill Confirmed and Hardpoint. In Kill Confirmed, enemies drop dog tags upon death, and you must pick up the dog tags for the kill to count. In Hardpoint, your team must occupy a zone to score points. Grind requires players to pick up enemy dog tags and bring them to a specified zone. Other variations of the game have come up over the years as Stockpile or Fracture. Both teams in Grind have to deliver their dog tags to the same location, so the area is constantly being fought over for control. The drop off zone also periodically changes locations.
Playlist update!
– Grind is now live! (replaces Drop Zone)
– Shoot House 24/7 is back! (replaces Shoot the Ship)
– Removed Snowfight#ModernWarfare— Infinity Ward (@InfinityWard) December 31, 2019
These multiplayer playlist changes came on December 31st, so expect a new rotation of game types in about a week. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
