League of Legends Pro League Season Gets Delayed Over Safety & Health Concerns

The second week of Tencent’s League of Legends Pro League has been delayed because of the recent coronavirus outbreak in China, according to a Sunday statement from the league’s official Twitter account.

The league’s second week was originally scheduled to start on February 5th with two matches but this recent announcement has postponed those matches.

“We have decided to postpone week 2 of the LPL until we can ensure the safety and health of our players and fans,” the account’s statement read. “To our fans, we sincerely apologize that it has come to this and we will share any and all info as soon as we can. Stay Safe and thank you all for your support!”

The coronavirus outbreak reportedly began last December in the Chinese city of Wuhan, which has a population of over 11 million people. According to recent reports, 56 people in China have died from coronavirus and there are over 2,000 confirmed cases.
