Show Off Your Pawsome Powers in Cats in the Shell
Cat lovers and mech fans have a new reason to get excited. Raven Studio and publisher Infini Fun have announced that Cats in the Shell, a mech-building roguelike auto battler, will launch into Steam Early Access on January 20, 2027. Better yet, players can jump into its debut demo today, which will be a part of Steam Next Fest.
The demo puts players behind the controls of a Syma mech and sends them into Expedition Mode, where increasingly dangerous mechanoids stand between them and the perfect build. Players can collect resources, discover new equipment, and experiment with different setups to create powerful combinations.
The new Simulation Lab also gives players a chance to test their creativity. You can select two blueprints and simulate battles between them almost instantly, while also sharing builds with friends or checking out creations from top players on the global leaderboard.
Cats in the Shell features six different metal beasts, alongside a huge roster of feline pilots with unique abilities and combat specialties. Players can mix and match pilots, archetypes, modules, and more than 1,000 equipment pieces across five sockets to create wildly different builds.
The game also features four futuristic biomes, PvE campaigns, challenging bosses, and asynchronous PvP. Players who manage to rack up 10 consecutive victories can earn the title of ace Syma pilot.
With the demo now available, Cats in the Shell is giving players an early taste of its chaotic cat-meets-mech formula. If you’re into experimenting with builds and watching giant machines tear each other apart, this one could be worth keeping an eye on.
