Toby Fox has had a pretty good year. Undertale and Deltarune are still hot commodities, Sans showed up in a professional wrestling arena, and now he’s making music for the newest Pokemon games. The last bit of news was revealed through a Twitter post earlier this week. Toby Fox is making Pokemon battle music! What a time to be alive!
Technically the song is only available to Pokemon Secret Club members, but the social media leaks are pretty strong with this one. It seems that secret club is actually terrible at keeping secrets? The version out in the wild is just a sample, but still: what a banger!
Battle music is arguably the most important track in a game to get right. People are going to be hearing that song hundreds of times, so it needs to be really good. And you know what? Toby Fox and Hitomi Sato have absolutely knocked it out of the park with this one. I can and will rock to this song over and over again. It’s just so bouncy and full of determination! Pokemon Sword and Shield are coming to the Nintendo Switch on November 15th, 2019.
