Famitsu Puts Death Stranding at over 185,000 Sales

Famitsu Says Death Stranding Sold over 185,000 Units in Japan

Famitsu has reported software and hardware sales in Japan from November 4th to November 10th, the week of Death Stranding’s launch. According to the chart, Death Stranding was the best selling software of the week, selling 185,909 units exclusively for the PS4 which includes the limited edition’s sold. Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Ring Fit Adventure round out the rest of the top three with 54,680 and 52,240 unit sales respectively. Death Stranding is one of PlayStation’s most successful exclusives this year but it lags behind the sales of a former Kojima title, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain which sold 293,652 units for the PS4 in its launch week in Japan.

The sales numbers Famitsu reports are retail software and hardware sales and it’s possible Death Stranding sold a huge portion of digital copies in Japan, but 185,909 retail units have sold just in one week. The Famitsu sales for November 4th to November 10th is as followed:

Although Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain sold 293,652 units on the PS4 in Japan in its first week, we’re impressed that Death Stranding was able to achieve 185,909 unit sales as a brand new IP.
