DBZ: Kakarot Gameplay Trailer Shows off RPG Elements

Dragon Ball: Kakarot Gets a Super Saiyan Quality Trailer

Bandai Namco recently released a detailed gameplay trailer for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, showing off stat buffs, skill trees and side quests. The gameplay trailer really focused on the RPG elements of DBZ: Kakarot, showing gamers that it’s a lot different than Dragon Ball Fighterz or Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. Gamers will also be able to raise their friendship levels with side characters like rep grinding in an MMORPG and train against images of fallen foes to get stronger. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is releasing for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on January 17th.

The gameplay trailer introduced the skill tree system which gamers will spend Z-Orbs on to increase their characters strength and abilities. There are six different types of Z-orbs and skills will require a certain type of them. Clearing training battles allows gamers to unlock new ultimate moves to use in battle such as Vegeta’s Final Flash. These two systems will likely compliment each other, allowing gamers to create an unstoppable character.

Eating in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot gives the characters temporary stat boosts, with the best stat boosts coming from eating Chichi’s (Goku’s wife’s) cooking. While the gameplay trailer shows Goku and Vegeta gorging their food as if they’re competing, it’s unclear if any side quests will include eating competitions. Just as in any RPG, these stat boosts will be essential for the hard fights and gamers will find a favorite food just as they find a favorite skill tree to progress through.

The community system of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot includes sidequests and side stories which reward Sou Emblems, which can be used on the Community Board to get permanent perks. Apparently after gamers defeat the villains, they can assign them to do sidequests and get their Soul Emblems too, making the villains of the Dragon Ball series do their bidding.
