Update Adds Online Play With Friends to Super Mario Maker 2
Update 1.1.0 adds a bunch of new content to Super Mario Maker 2, most notably the ability for Switch gamers to play with their friends online. Both Versus and Co-op mode are available for friends to play together, including Coursebot courses. There are also now options for LAN and local play to compliment these changes. Super Mario Maker 2 is available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch now.
With these drastic changes to the online multiplayer, Super Mario Maker 2 will now support the Nintendo Switch Online Mobile app which will allow gamers to communicate as they platform across chaotically created courses together. We’re big fans of playing games together online but are surprised Nintendo took so long to implement these requested features into the game.
Another great change added with Update 1.1.0 is the option to play through Super Mario Maker 2 courses with the Joy-Con held horizontally in all game modes. Several balance changes were made such as the speed each character proceeds through a warp pipe at and Builder Boxes placed after a Warp Pipe can be broken to proceed through the course. Gamers using Update 1.1.0 cannot be paired with players still using the 1.0.1 client of the game.
The Maker Profile now displays a user’s total number of first clears as well as their total number of world-record times. A refresh/update button has been added to the “Courses Uploaded” section and a list now shows a gamers most recent First Clears. These additions to the Maker Profile should help gamers finally playing with their friends have more to brag about.
