The First City-Based Call of Duty eSport Leagues Begin Competing 2020
Activision Blizzard Esports officially revealed today that Call of Duty League is scheduled to begin home-vs-away 5v5 professional Modern Warfare competition in early 2020. Twelve city-based teams have formed around North America and Europe. Each team in the league will host two “Home Series” events in their respective markets, one in the spring split and one in the summer split. Call of Duty League will continue to grow and develop talent through online tournaments, including a dedicated prize pool of $1 million, which kick off in November. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare releases on October 25th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
The professional regular season competition features best-of-five-matches series’ played in Modern Warfare on the PS4. Pro teams with the best win-loss records will advance to the postseason where the teams will compete in a double elimination playoff until the season Champion is crowned. The following teams are competing in the city-based pro season:

- Chicago, IL – NRG Esports
- Dallas, TX – Envy Gaming, Inc.
- Florida – Misfits Gaming
- London, UK – ReKTGlobal, Inc.
- Los Angeles, CA – Immortals Gaming Club
- Los Angeles, CA – Kroenke Sports & Entertainment
- Minnesota – WISE Ventures
- New York, NY – Sterling.VC
- Paris, France – c0ntact Gaming
- Seattle, WA – The Anquilini Group
- Toronto, Canada – OverActive Media
Beyond the twelve official city-based teams, gamers can compete on behalf of their cities in a new casual competition system known as the Call of Duty League City Circuit. The City Circuit lets gamers fight on behalf of their favorite pro team through tournaments held by the 12 pro teams. The City Circuit is primarily focused on the 2v2 Gunfight mode in Modern Warfare and it’s set to begin later in 2020. This fan-based circuit has its own prize pool and it will finalize at the Call of Duty League Championship Weekend event.
