Awakening the Giant
This Summer, Dice teased Battlefield 5 fans with a short glimpse at what they were planning for future DLC. One of their trailers ended with an American and Japanese soldier duking it out for only a brief second before the trailer cut to black and ended. It did not give us much info. But we did know that maps, along with new factions and weapons would be coming along in the near future.
Called War in the Pacific, this expansion is obviously going to take place in the Pacific theatre of the Second World War. The Japanese Empire and the USA are going to be the two new playable factions if this is going to be based on any actual history.
A new teaser was just released. But it does not tell us very much. It only shows a stoic American soldier staring at an island that is getting bombarded by the navy. We will have to wait until Wednesday to see more.
Battlefield 5 has gone out of its way to cover conflicts and battles within WWII that are not well known, or downright obscure. This could mean that battles for Hong Kong, Singapore, or the Philippines might be featured. But if that was the case it would mean adding the United Kingdom into the expansion. Something that is very unlikely.
Battlefield 5 has had a tough go of thing since it launched. The game has not been well received by fans. Some claim that the game has strayed away from its historical realism. Others are upset that the series has become too simple in order to attract more casual gamers. Either way, Battlefield will be looking to bounce back and wow jaded fans.
Battlefield 5 is available on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
