Backers of the Shenmue III Kickstarter Will Get Their First Look Next Month
Early backers of Shenmue III will be receiving their first look at the game in a trial arriving to the Epic Games Store in late September. The trial opens the opening area, Bailu Village, for gamers to explore. The trial will be playable for an hour and will be replayable after the objective is completed, allowing Shenmue fans to pick apart every aspect of the trial. Shenmue 3 will be available on PS4 and the Epic Games Store on November 19th to fans who didn’t back the Kickstarter campaign and the trial is only available on PC.
The trial will feature a stand-alone act and apparently lots of activities to experience, definitely suggesting replayability to Bailu Village. This has us wondering if we can gamble with pachinko machines or race forklifts while we wait for the official launch. PC gamers will be required to download an Epic Games account to access Shenmue III if they haven’t already but unfortunately saved data won’t transfer over when the game launches later in the fall. Even fans who requested a physical copy of the PC version will be directed to the Epic Games Store. Early Kickstarter backers of Shenmue III who weren’t pleased with their move to the Epic Games Store were offered refunds from Epic, but the fans who stuck around through the drama will be able to return to the world of Shenmue. Their official Shenmue page has more information on processing refunds and PC system requirements.
After Deep Silver received backlash for becoming an Epic Games Store exclusive, we’re curious how smoothly the launch of Shenmue 3 is going to go. Are you an early backer of Shenmue III or will you have to wait for the official launch in November? Are you team Epic or anti-Epic? Let us know in the comments below!
