O Canada – Squad Expansion Introduces the Canadian Armed Forces

Tim Hortons, Sorry, Eh?

Let’s clear up a few things. Firstly, this is not news on the “Squad” consisting of US congresswomen AOC, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, and Rashida Tlaib. Though, I’m sure many Canadians would like to join that squad. Secondly, shoutout to COGconnected’s hometown Canada for their feature in the tactical military game Squad. The Canadian Armed Forces may not have the reputation of being the strongest, most aggressive military power on the planet, but regardless, the newest Squad expansion brings them into the fight with a whole new set of war toys.

Squad Expansion

The Canadian Armed Forces expansion is originally a community mod that was adapted and released as free DLC. This DLC brings in a new set of weapons, vehicles, and a couple of new maps. The new Quebec and Nanisivik maps will have snowy locations, and let me just say, that does not reflect the weather of those places between June and September, okay? As a Canadian, while I have not personally seen the new weapons, I assume that they are guns that shoot a healing salve on both allies and enemies, as well as our standard issue Sorry Gun.

All jokes aside, Squad has been highly praised among the tactical military shooter gaming community. Recently, developer Offworld Industries has made great strides to accommodate the modding community of Squad, who originally designed this CAF DLC. Squad originally debuted in December 2015, but with these new tools, we may be seeing more and more collaboration between Offworld industries and the modding community to push out user inspired DLC. Squad’s free CAF expansion came out on July 26th and the game is currently 50% off its original price. The sale ends tomorrow.
