343 Willing to Ban Players Illegally Playing Master Chief Collection PC Test

Crime Doesn’t Play

This weekend is 343’s first go at the Halo: The Master Chief Collection PC test. It began on Friday and will end tomorrow. While a few days is not a lot of time for things to go wrong, some people see it as not a lot of time to join in on the fun. Yesterday, 343 Industries made a forum post on Halo Waypoint about some people who had accessed the PC test illegally. This warning promised swift, painful, and efficient justice.

Master Chief Collection PC Test

This PC test is going to be the first time PC players can play Halo: Reach. Perhaps that excitement is behind the impatience of the culprits. Of course, there will always be people who want to play games for free, especially considering the price of the Halo games on PC. Still, that does not justify illegally pirating games, lest you feel the wrath of 343. In their forum post, they said “If you download or play this illegal copy, we have the right to ban all associated accounts and remove you from all current or future 343 programs.” They will put down the Gravity Hammer and then PUT DOWN the Ban Hammer.

The test includes the Halo: Reach campaign mission Tip of the Spear, which if I remember correctly is the one where you do not want Kat to drive the Warthog. What 343 wants to accomplish with this test is for users to try out the mouse and keyboard controls and adapt them if needed. The Halo titles will be releasing one at a time on Steam and the Microsoft Store.

Is 343 being too harsh or just right? Let us know in the comments below.
