Sometimes, the Dead Horse Beats Back
May 20, 2019 Update ~ We received the following update from Rockstar:
“The issue affecting some players in Red Dead Online that was causing reduced numbers of animals in session and other knock-on effects has been resolved.”
This looks like an advertisement for PETA. Let’s just say Red Dead Online’s transition from beta has not gone off without a hitch. For some reason, since the newest Red Dead Online update, piles of dead horses have appeared in towns. Some players believe it is the unintended result of a duplication trick. There’s a Red Dead Redemption 2 glitch involving a horse where players can duplicate a large fish into their inventory. Now, in a Fullmetal Alchemist “bringing back Mom” kind of way, these horses are coming back to haunt us.

Sightings of these piles of meat began last night. Screenshots started flooding Reddit and Twitter. In a twisted sort of way, this glitch is kind of funny. Or rather it would be kind of funny if it did not put tremendous strain on RDR2. Players reported an increase of crashing since the update and frame rate issues in the areas around these horse piles. According to Kotaku, this glitch is occurring more often on PS4 than Xbox One.

Rockstar announced big things for this new update, but apparently “dead horse piles” was absent from the patchnotes. In all seriousness, Rockstar is probably feverishly working away at the moment to remedy this glitch. Check out all our other RDR2 news on our site.
