The Wild West is Getting a Little Bit Bigger and a Lot More Wild!
The time has come to once again unholster your pistol, mount your faithful steed and embark down the dusty trails of the old west. Red Dead Online has officially dropped the “beta” title and released a plethora of exciting updates.
Players now can access a series of co-op missions that continue the ongoing story of the in-game character. Accompanying the novel stories are new NPCs who offer various Free Roam missions for both the honorable and dishonorable outlaw. The update also introduces new weapons, different cosmetics, and gameplay updates. Arguably the most important change to the gameplay involves the hostility system. Prior to the update, the bounty for those who engage in PvP drastically increases for both players, regardless of who instigated. Now players are free to defend themselves without fear of consequence.
The latest patch has also added a feature many fans have been clambering for; poker. Players will now have access to playing the card game with strayers or friends at poker tables found throughout the map.
Rockstar Games, the renowned developers behind the Red Dead Redemption franchise, have also teased big future updates. One such development will be that addition of “roles” later this year, potentially as early as this summer. They have set out three such roles that will allow for deeper immersion into both the plot and character. Players will be able to choose between the Bounty Hunter, the Trader, and the Collector. Each role will have its own unique weapons, outfits, and attributes.
Along with the update, Rockstar has published a teaser video depicting many of the new features. The video highlights additions such as poker, new bank robbing missions, and a train heist.
