Overwatch, Assemble! (Or Something Like That)
Overwatch’s third anniversary is upon us, and the game is celebrating in traditional fashion with fresh skins and a shiny new mode for players to roll around in.
The event’s fancy trailer shows off some sweet statistics from the past year (which, wow, lots of us need some practice), and all the new skins in action, which you can also check out right here:
Personally, I’m all about Gargoyle Winston and Neon Genesis D.vangelion (don’t tell me the real name, let me live my dream). The lack of Zenyatta love is severely disappointing though.
Of course, all of the game’s past seasonal brawls are returning over the course of the event (you can check out the calendar right here), and a ton of past seasonal skins are available during the event as well. As is tradition, anyone who logs in during the anniversary will be granted a free Legendary Anniversary Loot Box with a guaranteed legendary item, and the game will be running a free trial right through to the event’s end.
Also, the awesome Overwatch Workshop creativity tool is now fully live and there’s already a ton of ridiculous content to dive into there. It sounds like the Workshop may be just the beginning of a year where Overwatch makes a big competitive push against the current multiplayer king Fortnite.
The 2019 Anniversary Event runs from today, May 21st, to June 10th on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
