I Hope You’re Not Afraid of Creepy Crawlies
The world got its first taste of Darkwood in 2014 through Steam Early Access. It was fully released in 2017 on PC. If you completely missed it, well you have another chance. Plus, you can experience it on the platform of your choice. In the next couple of weeks, we will see a Darkwood console release. Many horror games get their scares in with jump scares and up-close gruesome experiences. However, Darkwood is a top-down survival horror game with a monochromatic look. The game is full of creepy crawlies and monsters and all-around scary things.
The game takes place in the Soviet Bloc in the 1980s. It starts with a prologue, in which the player controls the Doctor. The Doctor finds the Stranger, which the player spends the remainder of the game controlling. Over the course of the game, the Stranger encounters different people trapped within the forest. Without giving everything away, the Stranger will have to survive the forest by various means to reach one of the two main endings.
Publisher Crunching Koalas has released a new trailer for Darkwood. It ends with the release dates of the game for each console. PS4 gets it on May 14th, Nintendo Switch gets it on May 16th, and finally Xbox One gets it on May 17th.
