New Battlefront II Mode Puts the “Wars” in Star Wars
Back at EA Play 2018, DICE promised that a new, large scale multiplayer mode would be making its way to Battlefront II. It’s okay if you don’t remember, because DICE did, and the new Capital Supremacy mode will be hitting a star system near you next week.
Capital Supremacy will be a 20v20 game mode set during the Clone Wars era, meaning players will get to choose between The Galactic Republic, or the Seperatists. The mode includes two phases. First, a nonlinear “Ground Phase” where players will capture and control command posts to stock up on reinforcements. The winners of this phase are claimed the attackers, and have to board two transport shuttles while the opposition stands in their way. The players who do manage to board the ship recruit a few more reinforcements for the next phase.
The “Invasion Phase” subjects players to a cutscene before sending to attacking team to destroy the opposition’s capital ship. Players will have to escape the hanger, take out a line of defense, and override a security console to drop a barrier. The ship will have two weak points where players will need to plant charges to take it out. BUT, if the opposition depletes all of the attackers’ reinforcements, the Ground Phase will start over. The previous Invasion Phase progress will be saved, in the event that the former attacking team makes it back to the second phase.
Battlefront II will also be getting a new map on Geonisis in the Pipeline Junction West area. The new mode and map drop this coming Tuesday, March 26th, and the game itself is available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Let us know what you think in the comments!
