Blizzard Has Revealed the New Overwatch Hero Baptiste
Just a few days ago we told you about the little tease Blizzard Entertainment had dropped about an incoming hero for Overwatch and now they’ve officially revealed who it is. As many suspected from the earlier tease, Jean-Baptiste Augustin will join the ranks as hero number 30.
Jean-Baptiste Augustin, or Baptiste for short, was teased just a few days ago when Blizzard released some correspondence from Captain Cuerva. This showed that Cuerva’s team was set to bring Baptiste back to Talon, despite how tough it would be to do so. “I know better than to underestimate Baptiste. I helped train him myself, and he was one of our best. I’ve never known a medic to be such a good shot, and his adaptability to new situations is a rare talent.”
In a new and official post on Twitter, using the Overwatch account, Baptiste was revealed in an animated short about his origin story. The video clocks in at just over a minute and a half and shows how Baptiste came to be hero 30. It shows him growing up as an orphaned child as a result of the Omnic war and how he once joined forces with Talon, becoming their secret weapon. After realizing this was not his calling however, Baptiste left the organization and will stop at nothing to “make the world a better place, one bandage… or bullet at a time.” You can check it out below.

From the video you can see that Baptise is going to make one hell of a support player and despite the fact that we haven’t seen him in action quite yet, he’ll be a trained soldier gifted at healing others. At this point there’s no word on when he will be released, but fingers crossed that it will be soon, especially since Blizzard has shown off his origin story.
