Overkill’s The Walking Dead’s Console Versions Haven’t Been Cancelled, According to the Publisher

The Publisher of Overkill’s The Walking Dead’s Console Versions Denies Cancellation Rumor

A publisher behind Overkill’s The Walking Dead denied on Wednesday that the PS4 & Xbox One versions of the game have been cancelled. A rumor about the cancellation originated from a Reddit thread that posted an image of what appeared to be an official message from PlayStation that stated that the PS4 version of the game had been canned.

Overkill's The Walking Dead

“We just wanted to clear the position on the OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead on console and confirm that the game has not been cancelled, purely postponed whilst development is on-going,” the publisher, 505 Games, tweeted on Wednesday. “We will share further news as soon as possible.”

Whenever the console versions of the game launch, here’s hoping that they’ll fair better than the PC version did since our review of the PC version didn’t have many positive things to say.

“I enjoyed Overkill’s The Walking Dead but perhaps more as a concept,” the review’s author wrote. “Playing with a friend makes the experience much more enjoyable; however, the price point is a concern given all the issues I had with the game. To this day, it doesn’t feel complete. Granted, it has the potential to be an AAA game but given its current state, [Overkill’s] The Walking Dead certainly feels like a budget title.”
