Telltale Lead Writer Joins Insomniac Games

Former Telltale Lead Writer Mary Kenney Joins Insomniac Games Next Year

It appears that Insomniac Games, developer of Spider-Man on PS4, is one of the developers looking to scoop up talent from the closure of Telltale Games. Announced on her Twitter, former Telltale lead writer Mary Kenney will join Insomniac Games next year.

Kenney was with Telltale Games for about 16 months but her skill is what allowed her to rise up to lead writer. Kenney was the lead writer on The Walking Dead: The Final Season at Telltale. Before that, she also worked on the narrative design for Batman: The Enemy Within.

It’s unclear what role Kenney will take up when she joins Insomniac, but it’s possible her story-telling prowess is what attracted the studio in the first place. While it might be too late for her to contribute to Spider-Man — the final DLC launches December 21st — she might play an importable role in the studios’ next game.

Insomniac Game's Spider-Man

Spider-Man was a huge success for Insomniac Games. Despite being exclusive to only one platform, it is still the 4th best-selling game of 2018 so far. The top three spots are taken up by Red Dead Redemption 2, Far Cry 5, and God of War.

In related Telltale news, Episode 3 and 4 of The Walking Dead: The Final Season will still see the light of day thanks to Skybound Games — the video game arm from IP creator, Robert Kirkman — picking it up after the studio shut down.

Other Telltale staff are still looking for new jobs. Various industry members went to Twitter to help spread the word by using #TelltaleJobs.
