Shenmue 3 Launches Late Next Year
A total of 81,087 backers fundraised approximately $7,179,510 for the long-awaited sequel Shenmue 3, according to an official Thursday Kickstarter update for the game.
The upcoming third game in the Shenmue saga is scheduled to come out on August 27, 2019 for the PS4 and PC. Shenmue 3 continues the tale of Ryo Hazuki, a young martial artist who is on a quest to avenge his father’s death at the hand of a Chinese crime lord named Lan Di.
If you haven’t played the first two games in the series but want to then you should check out our review of Shenmue I & II, a re-released collection of the first two games. The collection came out earlier this year and is available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
“For those who have fond memories of Shenmue I & II, these ports will allow you to revisit and experience why you fell in love with them,” our reviewer wrote. “New players who feast on GTAs and Yazukas may find the pace a little too languid but with a little perseverance should soon fall under the Shenmue spell.”
