Does That Include Companions?
Since Red Dead Redemption 2 is a big game, no doubt many fans are wondering if there will be big guns. While the ratio remains a mystery, we know that Rockstar’s wild west will have a vast arsenal for players to experiment with.
On its day of launch, Red Dead Redemption 2 will feature over 50 unique weapons. However, with the emphasis on hunting this time around, there’s a good chance we’ll see variations of the bow and arrow and other specialized tools – There are over 200 unique animals, after all. But if the devs pour as much detail into their weapons as they have their open world, then the variations will demonstrate some series nuance in their use. I imagine light caliber revolvers will be quicker on the draw. Meanwhile, the heavy pistols will be slower but pack more punch. No doubt, players will have to consider every stat before they saddle up and explore.

For comparison, the original Red Dead Revolver contained 28 unique weapons while Red Dead Redemption had 36 (DLC included). While the number for the sequel is already substantial, it’s likely we’ll see more guns added in post-launch DLC. That seems especially likely with Red Dead Online, if Grand Theft Auto Online is any indication. The latter game has witnessed five years of post-launch support, during which Rockstar has added all sorts of new weapons and perks.
