Vampyr’s New Difficulty Modes Update Releases Next Week

Vampyr Gets Fresh New Update on September 26th

DONTNOD Entertainment has announced that Vampyr will receive the previously-announced difficulty modes update next week on September 26th. It will roll out on Xbox One, PS4, and PC for free.

Vampyr

The update brings two new difficulty modes — Story Mode and Hard Mode — to the fold, both of which are designed to cater to different players, bot existing or new.

Story Mode actually “de-emphasizes combat,” allowing players to simply enjoy the narrative instead of fretting too much over fighting enemies. Hard Mode, on the other hand, is on the opposite spectrum. It greatly increases the difficulty during combat while also giving out less experience from killing enemies too. That means your character, Dr Jonathan Reid, will need to feed on more city dwellers to get more powerful. Both difficulty modes will be available from the start for players starting a new game. For those that still want to play the original Vampyr experience, they can still select Normal Mode.

The new update will also introduce a “host of optimization tweaks and fixes.” You can read the full patch notes by clicking here.

The publisher, Focus Home Interactive, is also having a huge sale on Steam right now. Between September 20th to the 24th, many of their titles, including Vampyr, are up to 85% off so act fast if you’re looking to sink your teeth into something good this weekend.

Here’s what we said about Vampyr in our launch review in June:

“Witnessing a studio succeed beyond what their audience expects of them is always a pleasure, and DONTNOD Entertainment has done just that with Vampyr. Whether you’re intrigued by the idea of stalking London as a bloodthirsty vampire or expressly fancy a rock-solid ARPG, consider sinking your teeth into this gem.”
