Late 00’s JRPGs Seem to Be Making a Comeback
It looks like 2010 JRPG Resonance of Fate may be coming to PS4 and PC sometime soon, as the game recently received rating in Germany for both platforms.
Originally released for Xbox 360 and PS3 8 years ago, Resonance of Fate is a Steampunk JRPG that was generally well received and lauded for its combat system but criticized for its jilted storytelling, and marked the first collaboration between developer Tri-Ace and Sega. The ratings below from USK, the German equivalent of the ESRB, show that the ratings were submitted as recently as August 31st.
Tri-Ace is gearing up to announce a new title at the Tokyo Game Show next week, though it remains to be seen if it’ll be for consoles or mobile, as the developer was recently acquired by mobile company Nepro Japan but confirmed they will still be making console titles.
It’s a good time to be a JRPG fan as a slew of Final Fantasy titles are on their way to the Nintendo Switch including a remaster of Crystal Chronicles, and Square Enix just announced a remaster of The Last Remnant from 2008.
