The multiplayer portion of the game will release a bit later than the base game and is currently targeting a November launch. The dev team is promising to take key elements from the multiplayer in the first Red Dead Redemption, while utilizing the valuable insight they’ve gained from the success of Grand Theft Auto Online with “constant updates and adjustments to grow and evolve this experience for all players.”

Red Dead Online will be available to anyone who purchases the base game on PS4 or Xbox One, and the first few weeks will include a public beta in an effort to help evolve into something better, faster. In an interview with IGN, Rockstar San Diego Senior Producer Josh Needleman stated “We feel Grand Theft Auto Online really only found its feet creatively with Heists, our aim this time is to get there a bit quicker, but still be responsive to what people enjoy playing and evolve as we go.”

Red Dead Redemption 2 launches October 26th for PS4 and Xbox One, and Rockstar recently showed off the game’s beautiful locales, rough-and-tumble cast of characters, and some gameplay back in August.
