Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Post-Launch DLC and AC 3 Remaster Confirmed

Odyssey DLC Explores More Greek Myth

Ubisoft is taking their games-as-a-service model to the next level, judging by their direction for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. For their next iteration, the plan is to fill the world with story arcs that will keep the playerbase engaged, alongside some bonuses.

According to Scott Philips, game director of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, fans can look forward to a hefty batch of DLC content following the game’s launch. They will be all the more savory if you’re a big fan of Greek mythology and hope to learn about the origins of the assassin brotherhood. Once the first story arc drops, Ubisoft will deliver more at parallel intervals so that there’s never a shortage of content throughout the months. If the Season Pass wasn’t enough, purchasable DLC will be supplemented by free content.

“In our first story arc, Legacy of the First Blade, players will fight alongside the first hero to wield the iconic hidden blade while learning why the assassins chose to fight from the shadows,” said Philips. “Starting in December, three episodes will release one after the other, roughly every six weeks. Play new episodes as they premier or experience this epic adventure in its entirety once all episodes launch.

“In the second story arc, The Fate of Atlantis, players will discover godly creatures and uncover the secrets of the legendary sunken city. In a surprising saga with many twists and turns, players will get even closer to Greek mythology and the first civilization. The Fate of Atlantis’ three episodes will begin releasing in Spring 2019, following the same pattern as Legacy of the First Blade.”

Then there’s that third surprise in the form of the Assassin’s Creed III remaster. Anyone who picks up the Season Pass for Odyssey will gain access to the third mainline installment at no additional cost. That’s a hell of a lot of content in one package, but quite a gift for fans of the franchise. We haven’t even started talking about the weekly challenges, where players can take on new enemies to claim new exotic gear. Rewards can be claimed by dispatching hardened mercenary foes and sinking rival ships across Greece.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey launches for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on October 5, 2018. In related, news, we learned that the experience will feature two game modes and provide over 300 quests at launch. Check back for updates as they arrive.
