Spyro Reignited Trilogy Gets Delayed

Spyro Reignited Trilogy Now Launching in November

If you’ve eagerly been awaiting Spyro’s updated return on Xbox One or PS4, we, unfortunately, have some bad news. Toys for Bob, the developer for Spyro Reignited Trilogy, has confirmed that the game won’t be hitting its original September 21st release date. It will now launch roughly seven weeks later on November 13th.

“Everyone here at Toys for Bob is so proud to be reigniting the original Spyro trilogy after all these years,” said Paul Yan, co-studio Head for Toys for Bob, in a blog post. “We’re deeply committed to getting these games right, so we’ve decided to move the release date of Spyro Reignited Trilogy to November 13, 2018. I really hoped that you would be rescuing dragons and scorching Rhynocs sooner, but the Trilogy needs more love and care.  In November when you’re exploring the Dragon Realms, Avalar and the Forgotten Worlds, we know you’ll agree the extra time was worth the wait.”

Activision, who is publishing the three-game collection, also commented on the delay saying that the reason was so that the trilogy “not only lives up to fans’ expectations but our own incredibly high standards.”

The news comes on the heels of another recent Spyro update. For those planning to pick up a physical copy of Spyro Reignited Trilogy, it was revealed that only the first game is on the disc and that the second and third games will need to be downloaded from Xbox Live and PSN. While fans aren’t too thrilled about this, especially considering Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy was able to squeeze all three games on one disc, Activision defended the decision saying “as with most games today, downloading an update after purchase is quite common.”

Despite this, Spyro’s reimagined collection looks like it’ll be worth the wait. What are your thoughts on the delay? Let us know in the comments below.
