Fortnite Offers Players a Way to Win Without Being the Last Man Standing
After launching on the Switch earlier this week and reaching 2 million downloads in 24 hours, as well as a firestorm of controversy regarding player account lockouts, Battle Royale king Fortnite clearly has no intention of slowing down anytime soon. And if a recent leak is to be true, the game is about to become a whole lot more accessible to those of us who are bad at it (me).
Score Royale is coming as a gamemode! Here is a description directly from the game files. Seems like it will be a squads mode and you win by looting stuff! Also the first time in a Battle Royale where you can win without being the last man standing. pic.twitter.com/AMeuDUSJrd

According to popular Twitter account and frequent Fortnite leakers DieBuddies, a description found in recently updated game files outs the new “Score Royale” squad based mode as an alternative to the last man standing format that defines the Battle Royale genre. Players can achieve victory by passing a high score threshold, earning points by “opening loot containers, using foraged items, and eliminating other players.”
Epic games has taken an interesting approach to keeping their 125 million player base entertained, opting to add different modes such as this and the recent Thanos crossover as well as changing the structure the game’s single map as opposed to adding new maps like their main competitor, Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds.
Seeing as this is a leak, take it with a grain of salt and keep it locked to COGconnected for more details when the mode is officially announced.
