Summer in Astera is Shaping Up to Have More Things to do Than Real Life
Early 2018 Game of the Year contender Monster Hunter World is showing no signs of slowing down support for the beloved monster-poaching game and understandably so, considering it’s Capcom’s best and fastest selling game in the developer’s nearly 40-year lifespan. Hot on the heels of the E3 announcement of a crossover with Final Fantasy XIV, Capcom has revealed the limited time Summer Twilight Fest event, as well as a new competition in the form of the Monster Hunter World USA Championship.
The Summer Twilight Fest will see the Celestial Pursuit decorated in a Summerly fashion, along with special costumes for Poogie and the Handler. Throughout the event, “almost all” previous event quests will be available alongside a handful of quests specific to the Summer Twilight Fest. Capcom also promises that daily login bonuses and limited time bounties will include “some very special surprises” for players. The event starts on July 13th and ends on July 26th.
The first Monster Hunter World competition has been detailed and will see Teams of Two attempting to defeat a series of specific monsters in the fastest time. The top eight teams will make their way to the finals, where they’ll compete for the title of “Fastest Hunter.”
The Qualifying and Finals Quests are available in-game right now until August 1st, with the Finals Quest only being available to those who have completed the Nergigante Slay Event 4.
The Grand Prize is a special edition Monster Hunter World Memorigin Tourbillon Watch and a chance to represent the US at the Invitational Exhibition Event in Japan this fall. The Championship event itself will be taking place in San Francisco on July 28th, and will include a challenge booth, producer signing, art gallery, “and more.” Registration ends July 18th and you can do so here!
Monster Hunter World is available now on PS4 and Xbox One.
