The Idea That Cyberpunk 2077 Isn’t “Dark” Enough Has Been Completely Demolished

Concerns over Cyberpunk 2077 Not Being “Dark” Enough Officially Addressed

Without a doubt Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the best announcements at E3 2018. From the first trailer we’ve seen since the initial reveal back in 2013 to its hour long demo at the show for members of the press, there is even more buzz surrounding the game than ever before, if that was even possible! Unfortunately, there have been some people criticizing the E3 showing as not “dark” or “gritty” enough, a concern that has now officially been addressed.

The brand new trailer from CD Projekt RED showed off a variety of body augmentations, AR headsets, neon signs, and whole lot more of the  futuristic setting and it all took place during the day. Some have criticized this decision, to show off the cityscape of Cyberpunk 2077 in daylight rather than at night, as the classic scenes of dark alleyways, and the overall sordid underbelly of the city weren’t on display.  In fact, these critics have voiced their concerns that the game won’t be “dark” or “gritty” enough.

MIke Pondsmith, the creator of Cyberpunk 2020, the original table-top RPG Cyberpunk 2077 is based on, took to Reddit to lay waste to these concerns. Here’s what he had to say, “For those who wish it was more rainy and dark and stuff: five words: day/night cycle weather algorithms. ANYONE can make it dark and rainy and neony. We already knew we could do that. We wanted to prove it can be the Dark Future ANY TIME OF DAY OR NIGHT.”

Pondsmith has just confirmed that the game, like in The Witcher 3, will have a day/night cycle, as well as dynamic weather, which means that anyone who is concerned Cyberpunk 2077 won’t be dark or gritty enough can lay these fears to rest once and for all. Plus, it’s not like what was on display in the trailer was all sunshine and rainbows, despite the clear sky above. You can check it for yourself below.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently in development for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. No release date has been confirmed yet. Are you excited for Cyberpunk 2077? Let us know in the comments below and don’t forget to keep it locked for updates!
