What Could We Have Missed?
According to the director of everyone’s favorite God of War, Cory Barlog, there’s one secret still waiting to be found in the land of Midgar.
Speaking with Gaming Bolt, Barlog said “I always think that people usually figure things out within hours, and the fact that we went a week without people figuring things out was impressive. It would be like the nuclear disarmament cinematic in Metal Gear [Solid V] that only got leaked because of a bug or something, and it probably would have gone unnoticed beyond that otherwise… I don’t think I have anything as amazingly meta as that. But I still think there is one thing that no one has found yet that I know for certain, because I haven’t seen any stories about it. Now I’m not going to tell you what it is, but I don’t know if there’s any cinematics per se, it seems like people have been able to get all the permutations.”
Like any good game, God of War is already chocked full of fun Easter Eggs that tell you more about Santa Monica Studios’ world of Norse mythology, like where Kratos fits in everything and the name of the boar Atreus shoots at the beginning of the game, as well as more meta ones like finding certain stones that make up the Infinity Gauntlet. Like I said, it really is everyone’s favorite, so it’s hard not to share Cory’s surprise at every last bit of dirt not being dug up yet, but the gaming community is no stranger to resilient, detail-oriented folks with seemingly endless patience. Now that word is out, players are likely already back in Midgar tearing through draugr looking for the final secret.
