Adds a Few More Weapons and Addresses the Camping Issues in Hunt: Showdown
Crytek just announced their newest, and first, major content patch for Hunt: Showdown, which is now live on Steam. It brings with it plenty of tweaks and bug fixes, but also adds some new weapons and trains, and focuses on solving the camping issues that has been plaguing some players.
Hunt: Showdown has been an early access game since late February, but the game has finally received its first major content patch. Simply named “Content Update 1”, Crytek have added plenty of content in this patch.
At the centre of this update was a potential fix to the rampant camping that goes on throughout each match. Crytek has said that: “…we see camping as a valid strategy in the game, we don’t want it to be so easy as to ensure an auto-win.”
As such, Crytek have taken steps to address this issue by tweaking the map to provide more cover, and generally make camping more difficult. For the full details on their map change, check out their video with Chris Auty, Crytek’s Level Design Director.
Players will now have access to five new weapons, eleven new hunter outfits, twelve new traits for players to try out, and two tactical bombs. Here’s a list of all the new weapons and items:
- Nagant M1895 Deadeye (a pistol with a short scope).
- Vetterli 71 Deadeye (a rifle with a short scope).
- Winfield 1873 Marksman (a rifle with a medium scope).
- Mosin-Nagant M1891 Sniper (a rifle with a long scope).
- Sparks LRR Sniper (a rifle with a long scope).
- Flash Bomb (delivers a blinding flashbang).
- Poison Bomb (creates a cloud of poison gas which causes damage over time, similar to the spider’s poison attack).
- Spyglass (a small telescope).
Alongside all of these new changes, Crytek have also added some bug fixes that should help Hunt: Showdown run smoother at a consistent frame rate.
