Kingdom Come: Deliverance Developer Admits That the Game Needed More Bug-Fixing

The Smash-Hit RPG Is Well Known for Both Its Difficulty and Its Rampant Bugs

Kingdom Come: Deliverance, a medieval first-person RPG, has been taking the gaming world by storm, having already sold over a million copies in the first 2 weeks of release. However, the game is notorious for being buggy and somewhat unstable. The executive producer of the game’s developer, Warhorse Studios, admitted in a forum post this past Saturday that the game needed for time for polish.

“I freely admit though that I wish we had more time to polish the game before the release, that’s what AAA game deserves,” Martin Klíma stated in an interview on the official Warhorse Studios forums. In the extensive interview, Klíma also spoke about his role as an executive producer, his fondest gaming memories, his favorite games and more.

In our review of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, we praised the game for its RPG elements, its realistic gameplay and its commitment to historical accuracy. However, we also criticized it for its bugs.

For example, our reviewer for the game, Derek Miller, cited a specific instance involving stairs in an area called Talmberg: “One set of stairs just would not let me pass, no matter where I went or even jumped. Still no dice, I did finally manage by crouching though of all things to do in an open area of stairs. In a game world this big there are bound to be some spots like this missed, but this seemed like an area where it aught not happen.”

Luckily, it seems like another big patch for the game may soon be coming. On Monday, the game’s creative director, Daniel Vávra, tweeted out a list of problems that the next patch is going to fix. These problems include fixes to the game’s lockpicking system, pickpocketing system and crashes on the PS4 version of the game that corrupt save files.

“At meeting about the status of upcoming patch. These [are] critical issues only. Much more is already fixed,” Vávra tweeted.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance fans, what do you think about the game’s reputation for bugs? Is it unearned or reasonable? What were your most memorable experiences with the game’s bugs? How about this list of fixed problems that Vávra tweeted out? Do you think that this next patch fixes all the problems with the game that you see as important? Let us know in the comments!
