The Total Number Is Expected to Be Much Higher
Revealed by the VGChartz, PLAYERUNKNOWN’s Battlegrounds for the Xbox One has sold about 581,761 units. Such is the fruit of the partnership between PUBG Corp and Microsoft. However, the total number of sales, digital and physical, are projected to be much higher.
As the VGChartz Global Weekly Chart shows, PUBG sold over half a million retail copies for the week ending on December 16. The number accounts for the number of codes that came out of boxed copies. Digital sales have not factored into the first week’s numbers. Therefore, it’s safe to say that the battle royale experience enjoyed a resounding success in its first week’s launch on the Xbox One. Whether or not it will retain momentum is anyone’s guess, but judging by its meteoric rise on Steam, sales could go a lot further.
Unsurprisingly, if we break down the sales, PUBG sold best in the US with 49,684 units sold. That’s 60% of all recorded retail sales. Then we have the UK, Germany, and France, who sold 69,654, 19,986, and 11,667 respectively. Again, these are estimates. We won’t know exact numbers until Microsoft or PUBG Corp publish the results. Until then and beyond, be sure to check back for updates.
