The Inpatient is Set For Release This Month
Horror is a genre that propels itself toward virtual reality. Of the VR titles that have captured our attention is The Inpatient. The Until Dawn prequel is set to release January 23, 2018, and now developer Supermassive Games is giving fans another look at the upcoming horror game. The half-minute video gives us a small glimpse of what we can expect and visually it looks brilliant.
We should note, the game was previously delayed in order to “ensure the [developers] have the time they need to make [The Inpatient] as enjoyable for players as possible.”
Take a look at the trailer below:
Taking place in Blackwood Sanatorium, The Inpatient is set sixty years before the events of Until Dawn. Players take the role of a “patient with no knowledge of who you are or how you got to be there,” and it’ll feature choice-driven gameplay similar to Until Dawn. Supermassive says that players will get to “influence and shape how the story unfolds as you witness the horrific events of the sanatorium’s final days.”
Since its reveal at E3 2017, the new horror title by Supermassive has been something of a mystery in how it plays. While Until Dawn granted a full third-person view, this prequel looks to be completely first-person. Naturally, this should work well for a VR horror game.
