Classic Franchises May Return at PSX
We can always expect something special from the latest PlayStation Experience event. PSX 2017 promises a very interesting showcase, what with Sucker Punch’s new IP announced. But, what can we expect in terms of surprises? A leaker confirms that we’ll see Devil May Cry V and Soulcalibur VI.
The rumor comes straight from Reddit, as they usually do. Of the franchises we haven’t seen in a while, Devil May Cry and Soul Caliber are among them; the last installments came out in 2013 and 2012 respectively. That may change with PSX 2017. Here’s what the leaker had to say:
Where Devil May Cty V is concerned, the leaker said, “this will finally be announced at PSX. Dante, Vergil, and Nero will all be playable on the game. I don’t know if that will be confirmed at PSX in particular alongside the reveal, but multiple sources have informed me that all three characters are on it and you can play as them.”
And though it will be announced at PSX, the next Soulcalibur will be a multiplatform release. That includes the Switch.
“I was told it’ll be for PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. There was no Xbox One version mentioned to me. The game should be revealed by the end of the year and make its 21st anniversary at least. One trustworthy source told me it would be revealed at PSX.”
Of course, you are free to take everything with a grain of salt. I recommend it, actually. What gives this rumor any credence is the fact that this is the same leaker who claimed Enchantress and TMNT would arrive in the Injustice 2 Fighter Pack 3 DLC. That said, they refuse to relay the names of any sources. Best case scenario: we see the beloved franchises return at PSX. Here’s to hoping.
Lastly, it’s worth mentioning that Devil May Cry 2, 3, and 4 director Hideaki Itsuno is currently working on an undisclosed project. It could be that he’s involved with the latest iteration. We’ll probably find out soon. Check back for the updates as they come our way.
