Lovecraft Inspired “Nightmare From Beyond” Launches Official Trailer
If you ever need inspiration for a mind-bending experience in horror, look no further than Lovecraft himself. Developer The Domaginarium announced the release of their Lovecraft inspired platformer “The Nightmare from Beyond” today and, along side it, the game’s official trailer was unleashed to give fans a sense of the levels Domaginarium went to for inspiration. The Nightmare From Beyond is a third-person horror platformer which takes its inspiration specifically from Lovecraft’s “The Dunwich Horror” and “The Shadow over Innsmouth.” Players are set to take the role of Sanja, a young girl who has set out to find her lost twin sister, Dajana, who has been taken by cultists. If that doesn’t scream Lovecraft, I don’t know what does.
Players will encounter the usual platforming tropes with some surprisingly agile means of exploring this nightmare, which is sure to make even some of the most hardened gamers jump in their seats.
The Domaginarium – a small studio based out of El Salvador – prides itself on exploring different subject matter, mechanics, and themes as a means of creating a more personal and meaningful story. Lovecraft’s plethora of genre-defining stories have been relatively untapped as of late when it comes to entertainment, however The Nightmare From Beyond is shaping up to do the iconic author justice with just the right levels of freakiness as seen in the premier trailer.
