The Original Pathfinder, Alec Ryder, Gives A Salute As Andromeda Draws Near!
But still does not answer the question of what the hell happens to him! Mass Effect: Andromeda is so close at this point we are beginning to taste it. In addition to the massive amount of gameplay shown and information reveals, a good indicator of this was the final Andromeda Initiative briefing.
But what was more surprising is that the Initiative has given players a few final words of wisdom from Alec Ryder, the father of both main heroes as well as the original Pathfinder for the Andromeda Initiative.
It even opens like a military farewell from your commanding officer, “It all begins here. We’re at the starting line. The Nexus is ahead, the Hyperion’s engines are prepped, and your stasis pods are waiting. There’s only time for a few words, so I’ll be brief.” The note is available here, and is a quick inspirational read.
Now from the information given on Alec Ryder we are able to discern he has a historical pioneering past (which he himself mentions in the note) for the good of humanity. However, what we know about where he is or what happens to him in Andromeda, could fill a damn thimble. The Pathfinder title is handed to one of the Ryder children at some point, but why we do not know.
From the trailers we know that something does go wrong with the human ark, and some of the others are missing at the start of the game. So that is when we likely get the title of Pathfinder. But whether this means Alec Ryder is dead, missing, or off hunting down the arks is still unexplained.
We will just have to stay tuned as more information pours in about Andromeda. The countdown is on and we are only 10 days away! As Ryder says in his note “I’ll see you in Andromeda.”.
