Even the Trailer Let’s You Shape Your Destiny in Torment
Techland returns with tidings of a new RPG. This time around, they’ve decided to treat players to something new and thematic. Working with developer inXile, they’re delivering a game that makes the most out of player choices. Torment: Tides of Numenera, a game we’ve long covered, gets an interactive trailer showcasing the significance of player choices.
Creative Lead Colin McComb narrates the trailer, pushing the point home that everything you do matters. But this is just a small glimpse into the world of Torment. Many themes, stories, and subplots can be experienced in-game. Moreover, Techland assures us that every playthrough is different. Meanwhile, developers stress that it serves the detail-oriented gamer, adding variable dimensions on top of action gameplay.
More about Torment: Tides of Numenera: it was created as spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment – “a 1990s game that became a symbol of ambitious RPGs and deep storytelling.” At the same time, it’s very reminiscent of Divinity: Original Sin. Both carry that top-down isometric with story-driven narrative. Except in this case, Torment is sci-fi. Taking place a billion years in the future, players obtain a completely alternate perspective on earth.
You can discover Torment: Tides of Numenera on February 28, whether you play PS4, Xbox One, or PC. Thankfully, following a HUGELY successful Kickstarter campaign, fan demand led to its availability on consoles. So brace yourself for an Earth a billion years in the making. And feel free to let us know your thoughts on this unique RPG from inXile. Happy gaming.
