Mark Wahlberg No Longer Involved With Uncharted Movie

Wahlberg Confirms He’s ‘Not Attached’ to Uncharted Movie at This Time

A report from We Got This Covered confirms that Wahlberg has left the Uncharted movie. During an interview promoting his latest film, Wahlberg addressed his departure from the project, admitting that he was ‘not attached’ to it at present. There was prior speculation that the Hollywood star was no longer involved after the film changed directors.

Once Shawn Levy was hired on as the film’s director, a new casting call suggested the lead role was in flux. Wahlberg had been in talks to play the lead for five years, through a string of previous directors.

With this news, it feels like the movie’s release is only getting farther away. Who will step in to play Drake now that Wahlberg is out of the picture? Chris Pratt already passed on the project. Nathan Fillion was so excited about the role he started a Twitter campaign to land it. Of course, that was six years and a handful of directors ago.

Production woes such as these can be signs a project is doomed. If enough talented people are passing up the chance to be involved, there might be troubles with the project itself. On the other hand, long gestation periods can sometimes pay big dividends.

Who should be playing Nathan Drake now that Wahlberg’s dropped the role? Let us know in the comments below.
