EA Controlled Titanfall Twitter Account Takes Shots at CoD
There is no question marketing campaigns and the competition between publishers can get ridiculously out of control. Often we see high profile developers, executives, publishers and even PR folks acting a bit ‘offside’ on social network. Sometimes they even express conflicting views. Today, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was released, and the official Titanfall Twitter account started taking some shots.
As you can see below, the Titanfall Twitter account started taking some digs by directly quoting a review that called the competing FPS “slow and plodding,” after the same outlet previously praised Titanfall 2.
One is “mostly slow & plodding” while the other’s “frantic precision is electrifying”– you decide: https://t.co/QkynZOXgpn #MakeTheRightCall pic.twitter.com/aAHWbrZQ2y

Through the day, the Titanfall Twitter account kept at it. They then quoted reviews that included references to the competition, even if less direct.

On the other end of the spectrum, Respawn Entertainment had a more good-natured tweet:
Congrats to our good friends @InfinityWard on a great launch! We’re looking forward to playing with you this weekend.
— Respawn (@Respawn) November 4, 2016
For those of you wondering about the contrast between the two messages, it’s easily explained: the Titanfall Twitter account isn’t run by Respawn, but it’s indeed handled by Electronic Arts, as clarified by Producer Drew McCoy.
For those asking, EA runs the Titanfall twitter account. https://t.co/8tl8hU9FTb

Respawn’s own account distanced itself from the shots fired by the EA-controlled account. They sent the following tweet:
For the record: @respawn is the official voice of Respawn studio. We have nothing but respect & love for our fellow devs.

We LOVE seeing developers show respect for one another, so kudos to Respawn. In the meantime, you can read our own review of Titanfall 2 and check out our Infinite Warfare review.
