The Order: 1886 Could Be Getting a Sequel
It’s no question that in the eyes of many gamers Ready at Dawn’s The Order: 1886 was a big disappointment. While there are a lot of gamers that really enjoyed their time with the game it scored poorly overall and many thought that was the end of the franchise. After the game hit the cheap bins though more people picked the game up and said that while $60 was too steep for the experience that $20 or less was worth it. The game wasn’t bad so much as not worth the higher price tag. As more gamers became fans it still seemed like that was as much of The Order: 1886‘s world that we’d ever see. Well, in a recent interview with Game Informer it would seem like the chance of a sequel still exists.
Speaking with Ready at Dawn’s co-founders Ru Weerasuriya and Andrea Pessino, they ask about the possibility of The Order: 1886 brand continuing on. Weerasuriya responds saying, “The best way to answer this without revealing anything if there is no future without saying much more is, yes. It is an IP having a future. That future is something that was established from the outset, from the first day we started working on it. Those who played the first game already know that there is a larger story. The Order: 1886 hides a bigger story than what we saw in the first installment. So the brand has potential, definitely.”
It’s clear by that statement that something has been looked at and that Ready at Dawn probably aren’t allowed to say anything about it. It’s made clear that the real fate of The Order: 1886‘s return lies in the hands of the decision makers at Sony. We’d certainly welcome another stab at it from Ready at Dawn and hope that something as yet unannounced is in the works.
