New Mafia III gameplay footage at PAX West shown off by 2K
At PAX West this week, new Mafia III gameplay video footage was shown that sheds more light on the game’s deep choice and consequence aspects. 2K Games introduced the new gameplay during a panel session, showcasing a “sitdown” between Lincoln Clay and his lieutenants. Check out the video below:
In the new video, Lincoln is tasked with having to assign a newly conquered district to one ally. It is a great example of how Mafia III will place you in some tough positions, having to decide who you will favor and who you will not. In this scene, we see how tough that balance will be to maintain, as Vito Scaletta is angry at not having been given much up till now. The story in this game looks like it will really be depending on the player’s choices.
This new gameplay footage comes hot on the heels of info we reported about the game’s planned DLC, which you can read here. And in case you missed it, we also told you about Mafia III’s story back in July. Mafia 3 takes place in 1968 in New Orleans, where we take on the role of Lincoln Clay. Clay is an orphan and former veteran of the Vietnam War, and as he comes back to society, he’s aiming to make a name for himself. Players will duke it out with all sorts of shady factions, including the Italian Mafia, and Clay is bound to cross paths, especially with some characters from previous titles. Betrayed by the Italian Mob upon his return, Clay eventually looks to join forces and build his own crime organization, and he will make use of stealth tactics, along with plenty of firepower, to leave his mark on New Bordeaux.
Mafia III releases October 7th. Stay tuned to COGconnected for complete coverage including a full review of the game at launch.
