GameStop Pleased With Xbox One S Sales So Far
Earlier this month we reported how if you want a brand new Xbox One S or one of those Xbox One S bundles, GameStop is offering a trade-up program involving your old systems. The systems include Xbox One, PS4, Wii U and 3DS. This offer is going on now until the end of August. Well, it appears that program is going quite well for GameStop. During GameStop’s financial conference call for the second quarter of fiscal year 2016, the retailer’s executives talked about the launch of the Xbox One S.
GameStop execs said they are “excited about the demand” that they have seen for the console. They further reported that 37% of the sales of the launch 2 TB model (that is now sold out) was funded with trade credit. GameStop also revealed that it expects similar strong trades towards the 1 TB model of the console.
Xbox One S is the most compact Xbox yet, 40 percent smaller than the original Xbox One, and includes a built-in power supply. Xbox also shifted one of the three USB ports and the pairing button to the front of the Xbox One S alongside the newly added IR blaster for increased accessibility. Beyond the fresh new design, Xbox One S is the first and only console that allows you to watch Blu-ray movies and stream video in stunning 4K Ultra HD with High Dynamic Range (HDR).
Xbox One S also comes bundled with the new Xbox Wireless Controller featuring textured grip, improved Xbox Wireless signal and added Bluetooth support. The controller can be purchased as a standalone item for $74.99 CAD and will also be available on August 2. All Xbox One games, accessories and Xbox Live services will work with Xbox One S.
